ABOUT BLUE DIODE

We are a publisher of quality books, mainly poetry, based in Leith, Scotland. Our first publication was Spark, a poetry anthology containing poems written in response to the novels of Muriel Spark. Since then, we have published several individual poetry collections and a few pamphlets, with more to come. One of those, Juana Adcock's Split, was the Poetry Book Society Choice for winter 2019. This book, along with Tessa Berring's Bitten Hair, and Jake Morris-Campbell's Corrigenda for Costafine Town, Marianne MacRae's Recital, and Tim Craven's Good Sons, was highly commended in the Forward Prizes. Books have also been shortlisted or longlisted for some major awards: The RSL Ondaatje Prize, The Saltire First Book Award (twice!), The Scots Language Awards, The Michael Marks Award. Good Sons was Debut Poetry Collection of the Year in the 2025 Scottish Book Awards run by the Saltire Society.
We were open for submissions - in January 2026 - and have now closed again. But please also take a look at the site and the books for sale, and perhaps buy one (or more!). Your support of independent publishing will be much appreciated.
Blue Diode Press is run by Scottish poet, Rob A. Mackenzie. His latest full collection (his fourth), Woof! Woof! Woof! was published by Salt in 2023, and his third, The Book of Revelation, in 2020. More information, and a few poems, can be found about him here.
